Goldey-Beacom College unfortunately finished in the home team's favor as the Lightning defeated the Griffins in each completed flight of a 6-0 end. Juniors,
Mia Covic (Novi Sad, Serbia) and
Barbara Broville (Toulouse, France) put up a fight for number one doubles, eventually falling to their counterparts 7-6 (7-2). Individually, Chestnut Hill College had their most success in the middle flights, but came away empty handed against the reigning Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Champions.
Goldey-Beacom College (4-0, 3-0) posted wins of 6-0 and 6-1 at number three and number two doubles to secure the team format point, before Covic and Broville's battle concluded in the first flight (1-0). Chestnut Hill College (1-3, 1-3) looked to recover in the individual round, but junior
Nicole Yang (Blue Bell, Pa.) and freshman
Gianna Vassalluzzo (Newtown, Pa.) lost their respective matches at number five and number six singles by 6-0, 6-0, scores (3-0). Then, seniors,
Daniela Siqueira (Sao Paulo, Brazil) and
Julia Bellon (Indaiatuba, Brazil) then correspondingly fell at number four (6-2, 6-3) and number three (6-4, 6-1) singles, before Broville challenged to a 6-1, 6-4, end at number two singles (6-0). Covic's match at number one singles was left unfinished (5-4, unfinished) due to precipitation.
Chestnut Hill College returns to the Campus Courts on Saturday, October 6, when they welcome Holy Family University for a noon (12:00 p.m.) match.
