Philadelphia, Pa. – (12/15/2018) – Chestnut Hill College was a 69-63 victor in today's non-conference contest versus Southern Connecticut State University (SCSU), thanks to the perimeter play of sophomore guard
Cassie Sebold (Willow Grove, Pa.) and freshman guard
Lauren Crim (Warrington, Pa.). The Scarlet and Gold led the whole way, pacing the Owls to a 12-point, 34-22, halftime differential and expanding their lead to as many as 18 points, 42-24 (8:03), before holding off a late-game rally. Sebold led the Griffin starters with a season-high 18 points, while Crim came off the bench for a game and career-high 22 points with a 4-of-9 (.444) three point shooting effort and all four of her free throw attempts (4-of-4, 1.000).

Jaeda Wildgoose (Somerset, N.J.) in the paint and juxtaposing Sebold on the perimeter until a three-point play from Crim cleared Chestnut Hill College (2-7) an eight point lead, 13-5, with just under three minutes (2:58) remaining in the first quarter. SCSU (7-4) scored the last points of the period with a three point basket at 1:17, 13-8, and they remained down five points, 17-12, with 5:23 remaining in the second quarter, but a pair of back-to-back Crim three pointers that delivered the Scarlet and Gold an 11 point lead, 23-12, just 43 seconds later (4:40). The Griffins kept their distance at double digits for halftime, 34-22, by holding the Owls to a 19.4% (7-of-36) first half shooting effort and forcing seven turnovers.
SCSU shot better in the second half (14-of-36, .389), but Chestnut Hill College improved equally (.333, 9-of-27 FG - .500, 13-of-26 FG) and outrebounded the Owls, 16-7, to overcome a 13-3 turnover discrepancy. The Scarlet and Gold turnovers allowed the Owls to mount a fourth quarter rally that narrowed an early 17-point, 56-39 (7:57), differential to just six points, 66-60, with 28 seconds (0:28) remaining. Fortunately, the rally ran short on time as the Griffins endured for a 69-63 victory.
Junior forward Kiana Steinauer (Oakville, Ontario) added five steals to a 16-point, 13-rebound double-double to lead SCSU. The Owls also got double digit scoring efforts from senior forward Allie Smith (Danbury, Conn.) (15 points) and junior guard Aaliyah Walker (Toronto, Ontario) (10 points); the former also recorded five rebounds, an assist, a block, and a steal, while the latter additionally provided four rebounds, four assists, and three blocks. Junior guard Imani Wheeler (Dumfries, Va.) was a factor as well with seven points, eight assists, a block, and three steals.
Sebold added eight rebounds, five assists, and two steals to her 18 points. Crim supported her 22 points with two rebounds and an assist. Wildgoose finished with eight points, 11 rebounds, and two assists. Freshman center

Chestnut Hill College resumes their Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) schedule on Wednesday, December 19, when they host Georgian Court University in a 6:00 p.m. contest.
