Box Score | Philadelphia, Pa. - (3/4/2018) – The Chestnut Hill College men's tennis team served as the home team for the first time today, Sunday, March 4, as they welcomed ASA College (NY) to the Campus Courts. The Griffins swept team competition and eventually defeated the Avengers by a 7-2 final with a 6-1, 6-1, number six singles score by sophomore
Adam Gavin (Gothenburg, Sweden). Freshman
Jesus Darias (Bolivar, Venezuela), sophomore
Antoine Gautier (Eysines, France), and senior
Felix Andre (Berlin, Germany) also won in both formats.
Chestnut Hill College (3-1) opened the scoring with an 8-1 win a number one doubles by seniors,
Lucas Bocaletto (Itatiba, Brazil) and
Pedro Festugato Regalin (Caxias do Sul, Brazil). Gavin and Darias were next to retire their ASA College (1-2) counterparts at number three doubles, doing so by an 8-2 margin. In the second team flight, Andre and Gautier concluded the round with an 8-3 triumph.
The Avengers scored their first point of the match to lead of individual play with their 6-1, 6-1, win at number four singles. Darias reestablished the Griffins' three-point edge, 4-1, with his 6-1, 6-0, win at number two singles. But ASA College cut the Chestnut Hill College lead to 4-2 with a 6-2, 6-0, win at number five singles before the Griffins could secure victory. The succeeding Scarlet and Gold points came respectively from Gavin (6-3, 6-1, @ #6), Gautier (6-4, 6-2, @ #3), and Andre (6-2, 6-4 @ #1).
The Chestnut Hill College men's tennis team returns to action on Wednesday, March 7, when they visit St. Joseph's University for a 2:30 p.m. match.
