Box Score | Philadelphia, Pa. - (4/9/2018) – The University of the Sciences (USciences) proved no match for Chestnut Hill College in this afternoon's Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) match as the Griffins shutout the Devils for the league prize, 9-0. After sweeping doubles play, the Scarlet and Gold secured the CACC win with singles wins at number three (6-0, 6-3) and number six (6-0, 6-1).
Number two doubles was the first pin to fall for Chestnut Hill College (8-5), who won the point with an 8-1 win from freshman
Jesus Darias (Bolivar, Venezuela) and sophomore
Antoine Gautier (Eysines, France), 1-0. Junior
Felix Andre (Berlin, Germany) and sophomore
Adam Gavin (Gothenburg, Sweden) added to the Griffin lead with their matching 8-1 win at number three doubles, 2-0. The Scarlet and Gold's doubles sweep was completed in the first flight, where seniors
Lucas Bocaletto (Itatiba, Brazil) and
Pedro Festugato Regalin (Caxias do Sul, Brazil) combined for an 8-4 triumph, 3-0.
The Griffins did not let up in singles play and retired the Devils with ease. Bocaletto scored Chestnut Hill College's first individual point with his 6-0, 6-3, win at number three singles, 4-0. His doubles partner, Regalin was next claim a singles point as his 6-0, 6-1, win at number six singles clinched the match for the Scarlet and Gold, 5-0. The Griffins completed the sweep of USciences with individual victories at number five singles (6-2, 6-0), number four (6-2, 6-1), number two (7-5, 6-3), and number one (6-4, 6-0) singles.
The Chestnut Hill College men's tennis team briefly breaks from their CACC schedule tomorrow, Tuesday, April 10, to join the women for a 2:00 p.m. dual match.
