Both sides were short-handed in the affair, leaving number three doubles and number six singles empty. Chestnut Hill College (6-6, 5-4) won the doubles point off Wilmington University (3-8, 3-6) with a 6-3 number two doubles win from Vassalluzzo and Garcia Arguelles and a 6-3 number one doubles win from seniors,
Barbara Broville (Toulouse, France) and
Mia Covic (Novi Sad, Serbia). The Griffins extended their 1-0 lead to a match-clinching 4-0 with consecutive singles wins from Yang, Vassalluzzo, and Garcia Arguelles. Afterwards, the Wildcats broke the shutout with a 6-2, 6-2, win at number one singles (4-1) and Broville triumphed in the second singles flight, 7-5, 6-3; 5-1.
As the #5 seed in the upcoming CACC Women's Tennis Championship Tournament, Chestnut Hill College will travel to #4 Jefferson on Tuesday, October 22, for a 2:00 p.m. quarterfinal match.
