Chestnut Hill College Athletics Announces 2019-2020 SAAC Executive Board & Team Representatives

Philadelphia, Pa. - (10/30/2019) – Chestnut Hill College Assistant Director of Athletics for Academic Success and Community Engagement Bethany Lang is pleased to introduce the 2019-2020 Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) Executive Board and team representatives. "I am honored to serve as the Chestnut Hill College SAAC Advisor this year and I look forward to working with our new officers, Spencer (Fitzgerald), Stephen (Hogan Jr.), Harry (Davis II), and Lauren (Crim), to make sure the student-athlete voice on campus is one of positive action and inclusion." Chestnut Hill College women's lacrosse senior midfielder Spencer Fitzgerald (Huntingtown, Md.) will serve as the Chestnut Hill College SAAC President with men's lacrosse senior goalkeeper Stephen Hogan Jr. (Doylestown, Pa.) at her side as the group's Vice President. Sprint Football senior Harry Davis II (Huntingdon Valley, Pa.) joins the officers as the Chair of Community Service, while women's basketball sophomore guard Lauren Crim (Warrington, Pa.) has taken on the Chair of Make-A-Wish Foundation Fundraising responsibilities.
 
Spencer Fitzgerald (Forensic Biology) - President
As Chestnut Hill College SAAC's former Chair of Make-a-Wish Foundation Fundraising, Fitzgerald was a member of the 2019 Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA)/Zag Sports Academic Honor Squad, she is also a two-time member of the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Women's Lacrosse All-Academic Team (2018, 2019), a four-time member of the Chestnut Hill College Dean's List (Fall 2016, Fall 2017, Spring 2018, Spring 2019), a six-time member of the Athletic Academic Honor Roll (Fall 2016, Spring 2017, Fall 2017, Spring 2018, Fall 2018, Spring 2019), and was inducted to Chi Alpha Sigma; the National College Athlete Honor Society last spring (2019). On campus, she is a Concussion Center Peer Educator and a Student Ambassador for Undergraduate Admissions. Externally, she recently interned with the Anne Arundel County Police Department's Evidence Collection Unit (Summer 2017). In 2019, Fitzgerald became a member of the women's lacrosse program's 100-goal club and earned All-CACC Second Team honors. Demonstrating great two-way talent, she finished her junior year with 47 points (43 goals, 4 assists), 34 ground balls, 25 draw controls, and 21 caused turnovers.

Stephen Hogan Jr. (Psychology (English Literature)) – Vice President
Hogan made one start (11 games played, 1 game started) in 2019, earning a CACC Men's Lacrosse Goalkeeper of the Week award on April 3, 2019, after totaling 18 saves in a 12-7 loss to Mercy College. He finished the year 0-1, but logged 169:39 minutes and made 39 saves with a 9.55 goals against average (GAA) and a .591 save percentage.
 
Harry Davis II (Accounting/Business Admin. & Management) - Chair of Comm. Service
Davis is a three-time member of the Chestnut Hill College Dean's List and the Athletics Academic Honor Roll, making the grade in fall 2017, spring 2018, and fall 2018. He is a Chestnut Hill College Resident Assistant (RA), a member of the Martin Luther King Jr. (MLK) Day of Service Committee, and has participated in community service projects like the Lens Program and American Legion Post Food Drives. Davis is a three-year member of the sprint football team. In addition to providing depth to the offensive line, he has also established himself as a vital part of the team's day-to-day operations.
 
Lauren Crim (Biology) - Chair of Make-a-Wish Foundation Fundraising
Crim is the member of Chestnut Hill College's service-minded women's basketball team. During her freshman season (2018-2019), she and her team donated their time to the Special Olympics, the Young Men's Christian Association (YMCA), the MLK Day of Service, Team IMPACT, as well as various veteran organizations and food pantries. On the court, Crim was a two-time CACC Women's Basketball Weekly Honor Roll member, garnering mentions on November 12 and December 17. She averaged 10.8 points per game (PPG) while additionally supplying 77 rebounds (2.9/game), 36 assists, a block, and 15 steals as a freshman.
 
In conjunction with the CACC SAAC and the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) SAAC, the Chestnut Hill College SAAC is an organization of student-athlete leaders that serves as a liaison between the student-athlete community and the athletics administration. It is comprised of at least two representatives from each of Chestnut Hill College's 18 intercollegiate athletic programs and is run by the Executive Board. Members of the Chestnut Hill College SAAC meet monthly and aim to help promote NCAA rules, regulations, and policies that affect student-athlete lives at various member institutions. It intends to enhance the student-athlete experience by identifying service opportunities, sponsoring social and community events, and encouraging student-athletes to support on another in competition and life. The Chestnut Hill College SAAC is a driving force that brings life and energy into the Chestnut Hill College Athletics community.
