Davis and Elkins College (0-4) scored the first goal of the contest, 1-0 (9:13) but it served as their only lead of the day as Chestnut Hill College (3-2) launched an 8-0 run that started with a pair of first-quarter goals from the a connection between Howell and senior attack
Casey Brown (Havre de Grace, Md.) (8:09, 4:50) and ended the first of two goals from senior midfielder
John Bennett (Plymouth Meeting, Pa.) with 5:28 (8-1) remaining in the second quarter. The Senators broke the Scarlet and Gold streak with 1:29 (8-2) remaining in the first half, but a late link from sophomore midfielder
Ben Revak (Aston, Pa.) to Rees reestablished a seven-goal, 9-2 (0:17) spread for intermission. Chestnut Hill College continued to dominate in the second half, where a 5-1 third quarter grew the margin to 11 goals, 14-3, before an 8-1 fourth quarter closed the contest with an 18-point differential, 22-4.
Freshman Bobby Palermo (Huntingtown, Md.) scored two of the Senators' four goals and recovered a ground ball. Freshman Nolan Morrison (Campbell River, British Columbia) and sophomore midfielder Trevor Kennedy (Grafton, Ontario) were responsible for the other two; the former also grabbed a ground ball, but the latter recovered three. Junior defenseman Mike Holstein (Milford, Del.) forced three turnovers and grabbed to ground balls to help senior goalkeeper Kyle Seago (Earlysville, Va.). Seago totaled 14 saves and seven ground balls in the loss (0-4).
For Chestnut Hill College, Rees posted a new career-high with his five tallies, while also contributing an assist and three ground balls. Howell's six assists was one shy of the all-time record (7,
