Philadelphia, Pa. – (1/6/2021) – Chestnut Hill College Director of Athletics and Recreation Jesse Balcer is pleased to welcome Ahmed Elgayar to the Chestnut Hill College family. "I am very excited to add Ahmed to our talented coaching staff at Chestnut Hill College. His familiarity with the conference and his success as a player and recruiter at Holy Family University makes him a great candidate to lead our men's soccer program. I have a lot of confidence that Ahmed will do a great job in building on our team tradition and lead us to future success in the CACC (Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference)." The former Holy Family University assistant coach recently accepted the Scarlet and Gold's head men's soccer coaching position.
"I am honored and humbled to be named the next head men's soccer coach at Chestnut Hill College" stated Coach Elgayar. "I would like to thank Sr. Carol Jean Vale (SSJ, Ph.D.), Director of Athletics and Recreation Jesse Balcer, the hiring committee, and staff for entrusting me with this amazing opportunity." He added, "This is a wonderful, new challenge and I am very excited start building new traditions and relationships at Chestnut Hill College. I look forward to leading these student-athletes on the field, in the classroom, and in the community." Coach Elgayar joined Holy Family University's coaching staff in 2015, serving as an assistant under Georg Montag for a 29-56-6 (23-33-4 CACC) stretch that included CACC postseason berths in both 2018 (#6; 6-11-1, 6-5-1 CACC) and 2019 (#3; 11-8-1, 8-4 CACC). While with the Tigers, Coach Elgayar also directed the Philadelphia Soccer Club's 2004 Boys' team (2015-present) and the Father Judge High School boys' junior varsity program (2016-2018).
As the lone All-CACC (2nd Team) performer on the 2013 Holy Family University men's soccer roster, Elgayar led the Tigers to a postseason berth (#7, 6-6 CACC) in his senior season. He finished his swan song with a team-high four goals (8 points) – the last served as Tigers' only goal (9:31, Kostick) in a 3-1 CACC postseason loss to #2 Dominican College (November 4) and earned him a spot on the 2013 CACC Men's Soccer All-Tournament Team. Primarily a defenseman, Elgayar scored all four of his collegiate goals in his senior season, paring them with nine career assists for a total of 17 points. After graduation, Elgayar played three professional seasons with the Philadelphia Fury (2014-2016) of the, now-defunct, American Soccer League (ASL) and one professional season with the Al Masry Soccer Club of the Egyptian Premier League (2014).
Elgayar graduated from Holy Family University in 2014 with a bachelor's degree in criminal justice. He currently works as a member of the Therapeutic Support Staff at Foundations Behavioral Health of Doylestown, Pennsylvania (2015-present).
