The Chestnut Hill College Women's Bowling team posted three wins on the opening day of the Medaille Brunswick Invitational in Buffalo, New York.
Maddie Gannon led the Griffins over the course of the day, with a five-match traditional format average of 190.40 (952 pins) to finish fifth among the 36 bowlers who competed in four or matches to earn All-Tournament Team honors.
The Griffins opened the competition with an 811-722 win over Hilbert College. Freshman
Kayleina McGonigal led the Griffins, bowling a 184 while Gannon added a score of 172.
McGonigal again the Griffins with a score of 196 as they dropped match number two to Bryant University 946-836.Â
Eryn Moore bowled a 184 in the contest.
Chestnut Hill had their high match of the day against Roberts Wesleyan University, defeating the Redhawks, 926-803. Gannon rolled a 216 while Moore and
Jessica Hollabaugh bowled 187 and 182 respectively.
The Griffins followed their win over the Redhawks with their second straight victory, 907-757 over the University of Pittsburgh-Bradford.  Moore led the team with a score of 210 while Gannon bowled a 191. McGonigal and fellow freshman
Maddy Feldschneider bowled 189 and 187 respectively.
Walsh University defeated the Griffins in the final match of the day 962-809. Gannon bowled her high match of the day at 226.
McGonigal, competing in her first match, felled 895 pins for a 179 average over her five matches, placing 14
th among the individual bowlers. Moore was 23
rd with an average of 173.00. Feldschneider, who bowled in the Griffins' final three matches averaged 174.33 in the three contests.
The competition concludes on Sunday with Baker format matches.
