Sydney Watts won her first collegiate race as The Chestnut Hill college Women's Cross Country team competed at the Gwynedd-Mercy University open 5K Invitational Thursday afternoon in Gwynedd Valley, Pennsylvania.
Watts (Swedesboro, Pa.) completed the 5,000-meter course in 22:21.3 to easily win the race, finishing 53 seconds ahead of her nearest competitor.Â
Aubrey Elias (Bethlehem, Pa.) was fifth overall with a time of 24:57.7
Rounding the Griffins finishers was
Lilly Short (Honey Brook, Pa.) and
Taylor Kirby (Westfield, N.J.). Short placed seventh overall with a time of 25:06 while Kirby, a senior making her cross country debut, was 16
th overall with a time of 28:44.7.
The Chestnut Hill Women's Cross Country team returns to action on Saturday September 10, 2022 when they compete at the Philadelphia Metro championship at historic Belmont Plateau.Â
