Jason Chedester etched his name into the Chestnut Hill College record books Friday night as he broke the school's indoor shot put record at the Garden State Track club Invitational at the Ocean Breeze Complex in Staten Island, New York.

Chedester's record breaking toss came minutes after teammate Elijah Fogg broke the school's five year old record (11.39 meters by Duncan Malone) with a toss of 11.58 meters (38'0") on his final throw.  Chedester was the next up and the final thrower in the event.  He launched a throw that sailed 11.82 meters (38' 9¼"), finishing in second place with the new school record.  Fogg finished in third place with his personal-best toss.

Moving on to the track events, the Griffins had seven runners competing in four different events with two runners making their collegiate debuts in their respective events and the other five all recording personal best times.

In the mile run, Christopher Nelson ran the second fastest mile time in program history, finishing seventh overall with a time of 4:28.50, just 0.67 seconds off the school's best effort. (Giancarlo Martines, 4:27.83 in 2016).  Jason Fisher finished 14^th with a personal-best time of 4:38.00, the fifth fastest mile time in program history.
 
Four runners competed in the 60-meter dash with all four notching personal best efforts.  Tyheem Bailey placed fifth overall with a time of 7.23 seconds while Brandon Moye was seventh with a time of 7.28 seconds.  Pierson Dyson also cracked the top ten with a ninth place finish with a time of  7.36 seconds.  Elijah Williams rounded out the Griffins field in the event with as personal-best time of 7.80 seconds.

Moye also completed the double in the sprints, producing a 23.88 time in the 200 meter dash, also a personal best.

Jason Rivas rounded out the Griffins' competitors with his collegiate debut in the 400 meter dash.  He completed the race with a time of 57.93 seconds.

The men's track team has one more indoor meet before the outdoor season begins in March.  The Griffins will compete at the Fasttrack Last Chance Invite at Ocean Breeze on Friday, February 24^th.
