Two School records were broken, and six personal-best marks set as the Chestnut Hill College Men's Track and Field team competed at the York College twilight Meet on Wednesday.
Jason Chedester extended his own school record in the javelin throw with a toss of 42.58 meters (139' 8") breaking his old mark of 42.08 meters (138' 1") set last season. His throw placed him ninth overall in the competition and improved on his Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference qualifying effort set at the season opening meet in March. Chedester currently has the sixth best throw among conference javelin athletes.
The Griffins' other record was set in the 4 x 100 meter relay. The team of
Branden Moye, Tyrease Harris, Tyheem Bailey, and
Pierson Dyson finished second in the ace with a time of 43.43 seconds, breaking the old mark of 43.59 seconds set at the 2018 CACC Championship meet. Moye opened the race with a 10.85 second split before handing the baton off to Harris who ran 11.31 seconds. Harris dealt the baton to Bailey who recorded a 10.95 second split before handing the baton off to Dyson for the anchor leg. Dyson completed the race with a 10.432 second split. The Griffin's 43.43 second time is the third fastest among CACC schools so far this season in this event.
Christopher Nelson qualified for the conference championship meet in the 1500 meter run at York, finishing in ninth place overall with a personal best time of 4:10.44. Moving up to 5,000 meters,
Cole Stanchina improved upon his earlier CACC qualifying time with an outdoor personal best effort of 15:44.85 placing 11
th overall.Â
Jason Fisher also qualified in the 5K race for the conference championship meet, with a personal-best time of 16:36.17.
In the sprint races, Bailey finished sixth in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.53 seconds while Dyson placed eighth, recording a personal best time of 11.57 seconds. Bailey also set a personal best time of 23.58 second in the 200 meter dash, placing 12
th.
Rounding out the Griffins' personal best performers was
Elijah Williams. Williams placed 14
th in the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 18.21 seconds.
Elijah Fogg and Chedester also competed in the shot put, finishing 15
th and 16
th respectively with throws of 11.40 meters and 11.28 meters.Â

The men's track and field team returns to action on Saturday, April 15, 2023, when they compete at the Bucknell Invitational in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania.
