Griffins Open Season at Lehigh Invitational

The Chestnut Hill College Women's Cross Country team opened their 2023 season with four runners competing at the Lehigh University invitational in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania on Friday.

The Griffins' top two runners, Sydney Watts and Aubrey Elias both produced personal-best times for a 6,000-meter race on the afternoon.  Watt's completed the race in 24:27.6, placing 50th overall and fourth among non-Division I runners.   Her time was also the fourth fastest 6K time in program history and the fastest time ever run by a Griffin on Lehigh's Goodman Campus cross country course.  Raquel Lopez holds the fastest 6K time in program history at 24:10.10, set back in 2015.

Elias took nearly a minute off her previous 6K best, completing the race in 25:44.0 for 68th place.  Gabby Hassler finished in 26:47.0 while Deanna Otero, in her Griffins' cross country debut finished in 38:21.2.

The women's cross country team returns to action on Saturday, September 10, 2023 when they compete at the Philadelphia Metro Championship at Belmont Plateau.  The race begins at 9:00 a.m.
