A top ten finish by senior Sydney Watts led the Chestnut Hill College Women's Cross Country team to a ninth place finish at the Rowan University Border Battle in Glassboro, New Jersey on Saturday.
Competing in the women's open 6,000-meter race, Chestnut Hill's five competitors recorded a team score of 252 points to place ninth among the 20 teams with runners in the open race.
Watts finished the 6,000-meter course in 24:21.6 to finish eighth among the 121 finishers. Gabby Hassler followed in 31st place with a time of 26:29.2
Anastasia Watson, competing in her first ever 6,000-meter race, finished in 35:13 and was the third CHC runner to cross the finish line. DeAnna Otero was the next Griffin to finish, with a time of 36:52.4. Erin McCarthy was also competing in her first 6,000-meter cross country race and finished in 39:44.2
The Women's Cross Country team will next compete at the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Championship on Sunday, October 27, 2024, at Belmont Plateau in Philadelphia.
