Sydney Watts recorded the best finish ever by a Chestnut Hill College Women's Cross Country runner at the recently completed Central Atlantic collegiate conference Championships on Sunday, finishing second overall and leading the Griffins to a sixth place finish.

Watts finished the 5,000-meter course in personal-best time of 20:16.04 just .079 behind Jefferson University's Ann Eshraghi who stumbled as she was approaching the finish and wound up diving across the finish line to complete the race in 20:15.25.

The second place finish by Watts earned her a spot on the CACC all-conference team for the third time in her four years as a Griffin, making her the only cross country runner in program history to have three All-CACC finishes at the championships.

Rebecca Dalton finished in 18th place overall with a personal best time of 22:01.48.  Gabby Hassler was the third Griffin to finish, crossing the line in 30th place with a time of 23:02.5.

Freshman Grace Mott made her cross country debut for the Griffins, finishing in 36th place with a time of 23:53.11.  Rounding out the Griffins five finishers was DeAnna Otero with a time of 28:39.58

The Griffins scored 139 points for their sixth place finish, just two points behind Goldey-Beacom College who scored 137.   Jefferson won the meet with 27 points.

Next up for the women's cross country team will be the NCAA East Region Championship in Rochester, New York on November 9, 2024.
