Sydney Watts raced her way to a first place finish as members of the Chestnut Hill College Women's Cross Country team  competed at the Penn State- Brandywine Invitational on Saturday in Media, Pennsylvania.

Watts, in winning her second race as a Griffin, completed the course in 29:25.27.  The course was supposed to be a 6,000-meter course but due to confusion on the course by the officials, the competitors ran closer to 7,000 meters than the scheduled 6K for the event.

Junior Gabby Hassler was the Griffins only other competitor in the event, finishing in 33:39.09 and placing seventh overall.

The women's cross country team returns to action on Saturday October 19 for the Rowan Border Battle, the team's final tune-up before the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference championship meet on Sunday October 27.
