Three members of the Chestnut Hill College Men's Soccer team were named to the 2024 College Sports Communicators Men's Soccer Division II Academic All-District® Team in an announcement Tuesday afternoon by the CSC Academic All-America® Committee.
Earning CSC Academic All-District® honors were seniors Jaime Arrola and Gabriel Matute along with redshirt sophomore Jose Ricardo Cuadra.  Arrola is the only repeat selection from last year's Academic All-district winners.
To be eligible for Academic All-District® accolades, student-athletes must be at least at sophomore athletically and academically, appear in 90 percent of their team's contests or start in 66% and have a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or better. Graduate students must have a 3.50 cumulative GPA in both their undergraduate and graduate programs.
Arrola, a defensive midfielder and a 2022 transfer into Chestnut Hill College from Manhattan College in New York, is a Business Administration and Management major with a minor in Finance. Arrola appeared and started in 14 games for Chestnut Hill in 2024, recording his first collegiate goal against Bridgeport last month. A spring 2025 inductee in Chi alpha Sigma, the National Student athlete honor society, Arrola has earned CHC Athletic Academic Honor Roll accolades in every semester at Chestnut Hill; Dean's List honors three times and was named to the CACC Academic honor roll in both semesters for 2023-24.
A Computer and Information Sciences major, Cuadra has been a key cog in the Griffins' defense in each of the past two seasons. Starting in 13 games this season, he scored three goals to tie for the team lead. In 2023, Cuadra earned CACC Defensive Player of the Week honors twice. He has earned Dean's list honors in every semester and was named to the CACC Academic honor roll in both semesters for 2023-24.
Matute, a senior defender, is a Business Administration and Management major in his second season at Chestnut Hill after transferring into the school in the fall of 2023. He played and started in 17 games this past season, recording six shots while logging in 1,260 minutes. Matute has earned Dean's List and CHC Athletic Academic honor Roll accolades in every semester while attending Chestnut Hill. He was also named to the CACC Academic honor roll in both semesters for 2023-24.  Â
Academic All-District® honorees are reviewed by a group of Academic All-America® committee members for consideration for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America® national ballot, where first, second and third team Academic All-America® honorees are chosen by the CSC Division II membership and the Academic All-America® core committee. Honorees will be announced in December.
