Two school records, two additional personal best times and four top 25 finishes highlighted the Chestnut Hill College Men's Track and Team's performance at the Garden State Collegiate Open Friday night at the Ocean Breeze Athletic complex in Staten Island, New York.

In his first 400-meter dash race for Chestnut Hill, Emanuel Preston raced to an eighth place finish and broke an eight year old school record with a time of 51.85 seconds, 3.28 seconds faster than Manon Purnell's mark of 55.13 set back in 2016. His mark was also just off his own collegiate personal best.  Preston, a transfer from Division I Bethune Cookman University, ran a 51.79 in his only season at B-C.

Preston's 16th place finish in the 200 meter dash with a school best 23.18 seconds was also just off his 2023 B-C time of 22.47 seconds.

Elijah Williams became the first Griffins' hurdler to break the ten-second barrier in the 60-meter hurdles, placing fourth overall with a school record time of 9.87 seconds.

Bryce Hunter and Donald Bonham also set collegiate personal best marks in their respective events with recording a time of 23.63 seconds in the 200 meter dash and bonham a time of 7.58 seconds in the 60-meter dash.  Hunter was 23rd in the 200th.  He also placed 25th in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.44 seconds.

Tyheem Bailey led four Griffin runners in the 60 meter dash with a time of 7.30 seconds to place 19th.  Bailey also competed in the 200-meter dash, finishing with a time of 23.89 seconds.  Demitri Pierre Perez made his collegiate debut in the event, finishing with a time of 8.57 seconds.

Rounding out the CHC competitors was shot put specialist Jason Chedester.  Chedester placed eighth overall with a toss of 10.83 meters (35' 6½").

The Men's Track and Field team returns to action on Friday, February 23, 2024, for the final indoor meet before the start of the outdoor season.  The team will again compete at Ocean Breeze in the FastTrack Last Chance Invitational.
