Three indoor school records were set as the Chestnut Hill College women's track and field team competed at the Scarlet Knight Invitational on February 2-3, 2024, at the Armory in New York city, New York.
Junior
Anastasia Watson started things off by extending her own indoor school record in the shot put. On her second throw, Watson broke her record of 10.61 meters set back on January 20, 2024, with a toss of 10.91 meters. Two throws later she had her best throw of the competition at 11.52 meters (37' 9½"). Her throw placed her fourth overall in the event.
Chestnut Hill's next school record fell in the 200 meter dash race as sophomore
Solanje James shaved .07 seconds off Samaria Turner's 200 meter time of 29:56 set back in 2018 with a time of 29.49 seconds. Â Â James also ran a personal best 60 meter dash time of 8.71 seconds earlier in the day.
The final record of the day belonged to junior
Sydney Watts. Watts lowered her own record in the 3,000-meter run with a time of 11:06.24, taking 13 seconds of her time set last month at the Moravian Invite.Â
On Friday, milers
Aubrey Elias and
Rebecca Dalton both ran personal best times in the event with Elias producing a time of 5:43.82 with Dalton right with her, finishing with a time of 5:43.94.
Dalton and Elias also ran in the distance medley relay on Friday. Dalton led off the race with the 1,200 meter leg, handing off to
Deanna Otero for the 400 meter leg. Otero gave way to
Gabby Hassler who ran the 800 meter leg before handing off to Elias who anchored the race running 1,600 meters. The team placed third with a time of 13:57.39.
The Women's Track and Field team returns to action at the Garden State Games at Ocean Breeze in Staten Island, New York on February 16, 2024.
