Sydney Watts continued her strong start to the 2024 Chestnut Hill College Women's Cross Country season as the senior became the first Griffin in program history to break the 16-minute plateau for a 4,000-meter race at Saturday's Dickinson College Long Short Invitational in Newville, Pennsylvania.
Watts completed the 4,000-meter course in 15:57.0 bettering Raquel Lopez's previous school best time of 16:47 set back in 2017 by 50 seconds. Sydney finished 32nd overall in the race.
Gabby Hassler turned in the fourth fastest $K time in program history with a time of 17:22.2 to become the Griffins' second finisher in the race.
Rounding out the Griffins five finishers were DeAnna Otero (22:34.6); Anastasia Watson (22:36.0) and Gladyeliz Hernandez (30:44.0)
As a team the Griffins placed seventh in the race with a team score of 73 points.
The women's cross country team returns to action on Saturday, October 5, 2024, when they compete at the Penn State Brandywine Invitational.
