Griffins Sit in Seventh Place after First Round of CACC Championship

The first round is in the books at the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Golf Championship at White Clay Creek Country Club in Wilmington, Delaware.

Sunday's competition saw the Chestnut Hill College Golf team sitting in seventh place among the seven teams competing, with a first round team score of 326, three strokes behind sixth place Dominican University and 16 strokes behind leader Post University.

Leading the way for the Griffins after the first round was Rogelio Gerena.  Gerena shot an eight-over 80 to sit in a tie for 14th place overall, eight strokes behind the leader Pablo Hidaglo of Felician University.

Two strokes behind Gerena are a trio of Griffin golfers.  Kiefer Sharman, Jack Bulman and Hugo Almeida completed their first round with identical scores of 82, tying them for 22nd place. 

Rounding out the Griffins' five golfers was Trevor Dendler. Dendler sits in 30th place after shooting a  score of 85.

Round two begins tomorrow at 8:00 a.m.  with Dendler in the first tee time spot at  8:00 a.m.  and the other Griffins teeing off in nine minute intervals until 8:36 a.m. when Gerena begins play.  The Griffins are partnered with Dominican University players for round two.
