The Chestnut Hill College Men's Golf team opened their spring season with a win, defeating four other teams at the Washington College spring Invitational at the Chester River Yacht and Country Club in Chestertown, Maryland Monday afternoon.
The Griffins finished the one-round event with a team score of 333, three strokes ahead of second place Muhlenberg College and 27 strokes ahead of third place Penn State Abington.
Individually, Chase Forsyth took home medalist honors besting the field of 25 golfers with a score of 77, three strokes ahead of Muhlenberg's Alex McCauley. Forsyth trailed McCauley by two strokes heading into the back nine and evened the score with pars on the 12th and 13th holes when McCauley bogeyed the two. Two holes later on the par-five 15th hole,  Forsyth shot a three for an eagle to take a two stroke lead. He picked up a stroke on the final hole to finish three strokes ahead. Forsyth finished the match with ten pars and a birdie to go along with his eagle on 15.
P.J. Schulte finished third overall with a score of 83, recording seven pars and three birdies. Three strokes behind Schulte was Rogelio Gerena with a score of 86. Gerena finished with six pars.
Hugo Almeida and Kiefer Sharman rounded out the Griffins competitors with scores of 87 and 89. Almeida recorded two birdies and five pars on the afternoon while Sharman had six pars in the round..
The golf team returns to action on March 20, 2025, when they compete at the Jefferson University Inivtational at the Jeffersonville golf club.
