Dalton Breaks Steeplechase Mark at Ursinus Track and Field Festival

Rebecca Dalton broke the school record for the 3,000-meter steeplechase as the Chestnut Hill College Women's Track and Field team recorded six top 20 finishes at the Ursinus Track and field Festival Saturday in Collegeville, Pennsylvania.

Dalton finished in third place in the steeplechase event with a time of 12:36.76  breaking the old school record of 12:39.11 set eight years ago by Raquel Lopez.  Her time ranks second on the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Performance list and tenth in the East Region.

Gabby Hassler turned in a season-best performance in the steeplechase event, finishing eighth with a time of 13:57.32, moving up to the #3 slot on the CACC performance list.

Four top 20 finishes were recorded in the field events, with three of them by senior Anastasia Watson, who competed in the javelin, discus and the shot put.  Watson record a personal best throw of 25.27 meters (82'11") in the javelin to finish 20th.  In the shot put, she placed 13th with a toss of 10.44 meters (34'3") and was eighth in the discus throw with a toss of 35.24 meters (115' 7").

Grace Mott made her collegiate debut in both the javelin throw and the 800-meter run.  In the javelin, she finished 16th overall with a throw of 26.47 meters (86'10") while in the 800,she finished with a time of 2:52.97

DeAnna Otero rounded out the Chestnut Hill competitors, running in the 100-meter dash and finishing with a time of 14.20.

The women's track and field team returns to action on April 19 at the Millersville Metric Meet.
