Three Chestnut Hill College student-athletes have been named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District® Women's At-Large Team in an announcement made by the organization and the CSC Academic All-America® committee.
Named to this year's women's at-large academic all-district team were three members of the Griffins' women's Lacrosse program. Leading the way was graduate student Molly Killion. Joining Killion on this year's team are first time honorees junior Angel'Lique Lockhart and senior Anna Sanverdine.
This year marks the third consecutive season that Killion has earned CSC Academic All-District® Women's At-Large Team honors. She has also earned Academic All-District® honors for women's soccer twice. With this year's at-large selection Killion becomes the first student-athlete in Chestnut Hill's history to earn Academic All-District® honors five times.
To be eligible for Academic All-District® accolades, student-athletes must be at least at sophomore athletically and academically, appear in 90 percent of their team's contests or start in 66% and have a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or better. Graduate students must have a 3.50 cumulative GPA in both their undergraduate and graduate programs.
The 2024-25 Academic All-District® Women's At-Large Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field or court and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes Women's At-Large honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, and NAIA. At-large honorees represent sports that the CSC Academic All-America® program does not honor with their own separate team.
Killion is currently pursuing a master's degree in organizational leadership after graduating from the college in May of 2024 with a degree in English Literature and Writing. She was inducted into Sigma Tau Delta, the international English honor society and Chi Alpha Sigma, the national college athlete honor society in 2023. She is a three-time Central Atlantic Collegiate conference All-Academic team honoree for women's lacrosse and a three-time D2 Athletic Director's Association (D2ADA) Academic Achievement Award winner. She has earned Dean's List and CHC Athletic Academic Honor Roll accolades every semester as an undergraduate during her career as a Griffin.
On the field, Killion tied for the team lead this season with 19 goals while finished second on the team with 23 points in ten games played. She also led the team and the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference averaging 3.5 ground balls per game. This number also ranked 18th nationally among division II players. Killion finished her career as the Griffins' all-time leader in ground balls per game (3.17) and caused turnovers per game (1.87) while ranking second all-time with 165 ground balls and 97 caused turnovers.
Lockhart and Sanverdine were both inducted into Chi Alpha Sigma last month and have also earned CACC Academic Honor roll accolades in each of the past three semesters since that program's inception in fall of 2023.
Sanverdine is a psychology major who will graduate in December. She has earned Dean's list honors three times and CHC Athletic Academic honor roll four times while also playing two sports. She has been a member of the women's soccer team for the past three seasons. Sanverdine is also part of the Interdisciplinary Honors Program at Chestnut Hill.
On the field this season, Sanverdine started in all 11 games for the Griffins, scoring two goals and adding one assist. She also had 17 ground balls on the season.
Lockhart, a forensic chemistry major, was a D2ADA Academic Achievement Award winner for 2023-24 and has earned Dean's List and CHC Athletic Academic Honor Roll accolades in every semester since she began her career as a Griffin athlete.
Appearing in ten games this season, Lockhart scored her first collegiate goal against Caldwell University on March 29. The goal was a man-up score. She added six ground balls on the season.
Academic All-District® honorees are reviewed by a group of Academic All-America® committee members for consideration for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America® national ballot, where first, second and third team Academic All-America® honorees are chosen by the CSC Division II membership and the Academic All-America® core committee.
