Griffins Open Outdoor Season at Purple and Gold Invitational

The Chestnut Hill College Women's Track and Field Team opened their 2026 outdoor season Saturday at the WCU Purple and Gold Invitational hosted by West Chester University.

The three women competing in the meet took part in two events apiece, with all three athletes competing in at least one event for the first time in their career.

Senior Gabby Hassler took home fourth place in her first ever 400 meter hurdles race with a time of 1:18.34.  Her time is also the third fastest 400-meter hurdles performance in program history.  Earlier in the day she ran in the 1,500 meter run for the first time in her career, finishing 23rd with a time of 5:51.31.

Soleil Casseus also ran in the 1,500 meter run, setting a personal best time of 6:02.44 and placing 27th overall.  The sophomore runner later made her collegiate debut in the 800-meter run placing 23rd with a time of 2:59.73

Thrower Gesielyz Sanchez made her collegiate outdoor track debut on Saturday, competing in the discus and the javelin throw.  She finished 19th in the javelin throw with a toss of 10.74 meters (35'3")  while recording a mark of 14.67 meters (48'1") in the discus.

Next up for the Women's track and field team is the Danny Curran Classic, hosted by Widener University on March 28, 2026.
