Scimone Makes ECC Women’s Bowling Weekly Honor Roll
 
West Babylon, N.Y. - (1/19/2020) – Chestnut Hill College finished last weekend’s Northeast Invitational with three straight baker bracket wins to finish 21st (21st of 26, 4W-9L, 4,226-4,259; 8,485 pins) in an impressive field of the nation’s top teams. Junior Kristina Scimone (Gibbsboro, N.J.) was a major contributor throughout the weekend and earned a mention on the East Coast Conference (ECC) Women’s Bowling Weekly Honor Roll.
 
After going 0-5 on the first day of the Northeast Invitational, Chestnut Hill College (36-21) resided in 24th place (24th of 26, 4,226 pins). Freshman Madeline Gannon (Glenolden, Pa.) led the team, filling 77.7% of her frames and connecting the pins for an 83.3% sparing effort. #11 Louisiana Tech University defeated the Scarlet and Gold by a 979-835 measure in the Griffins' fourth match of the day. Senior Stephanie Brogna (Morganville, N.J.), junior Christina Del Vecchio (Warrington, Pa.), and Scimone filled eight-of-10 frames in the loss.
 
Chestnut Hill College finished day two of the Northeast Invitational with a 1-4 mark and remained 24th of 26 teams with a two-day total of 8,485 pins (4,226-4,259). The Griffins won their first match of the day, defeating Kutztown University by an 830-807 measure. Scimone - who led the team for the day with a 180.6 average score - rolled a 200. Later, #1 McKendree University defeated the Griffins 920-869 in game two; Scimone had a 192 and junior Laura Oliver (Bayville, N.J.) rolled a 182. In the fourth match of the day, #9 Youngstown State University rolled a 1,039, pacing the Griffins by a good distance (1,039-886). Scimone and Brogna led Chestnut Hill College with respective scores of 202 and 197.
 
Chestnut Hill College won all three of Sunday’s (January 19) bracket play to finish 21st (21st of 26, 4W-9L, 4,226-4,259; 8,485 pins) in the Northeast Invitational. The Griffins were 4-9 for the weekend, leaving their season record at 36-21. Junior Lauren Klein (Horsham, Pa.) led the Scarlet and Gold with 89.3% filled frames. Meanwhile, Scimone filled 80% of her frames in the concluding 4-1 victory over Tusculum University.
