Keimig and Herbert Collect Weekly CACC Awards

New Haven, Conn. - (3/10/2014) – For their efforts during the Chestnut Hill College’s 0-3 start, sophomore midfielder Emorie Keimig (Freeland, Md.) and freshman attack Alicia Herbert (Little Egg Harbor, N.J.) represented the Griffins on the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Weekly Women’s Lacrosse Report as the league’s Defensive Player and Co-Rookie of the Week, respectively. Keimig caused five turnovers while six goals, two assists, eight ground balls, and ten draw controls while Herbert recorded nine points, eight goals and an assist, in her first three collegiate contests.

On February 26, Keimig scored back-to-back Chestnut Hill College (0-3) goals early in the first half to tie the season opener at Mercy College, 2-2 at 22:05. Unfortunately, a seven-goal Maverick run would separate the home team for a 10-7 halftime advantage and an eventual 19-13 win. Keimig finished with three tallies, but Herbert led the Griffin effort with four goals, an assist, a ground ball and two caused turnovers.

On March 1, Shepherd University escaped Plymouth Whitemarsh Football Stadium with a 14-11 win as the Rams spoiled the Griffins home opener with six players recording at least two points in a balanced team effort. Herbert led the Griffin offense with four goals and a draw while Keimig chipped in on both sides of the field with a goal, an assist, two ground balls, four draws, and two caused turnovers.

Against Seton Hill University, on March 8, Keimig led Griffins in a 21-6 loss with two goals, an assist, and three ground balls. SHU scored the game’s first five goals and led 12-4 at halftime before outscoring the Griffins 9-2 in the second half.

The women’s lacrosse team returns home to open their Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) schedule on Tuesday, March 11, when they host Philadelphia University in a 7:00 p.m. match.
