Leckonby Makes Another Appearance on CACC Weekly Report

New Haven, Conn. - (4/13/2015) –
Serving as Chestnut Hill College’s leading scorer during an 0-3 week, freshman midfielder Hunter Leckonby (Charleston, S.C.) made her fourth consecutive appearance on the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Weekly Report with an Honor Roll mention.

A first half of scoring streaks gave way to a Chestnut Hill College second half, but with the score tied at the end of regulation, 10-10, overtime was all Lions in a 15-10 CACC win for Georgian Court University on Wednesday. Freshman midfielder Erica McLaughlin (Magnolia, N.J.) delivered the game-tying goal and helped Leckonby keep the Griffins on pace with her second straight three-goal game. Leckonby led the Griffin effort with four goals, three ground balls, two draws, and two caused turnovers.

Chestnut Hill College engaged in a lively tug-of-war at the University of Bridgeport the next day, a swinging pendulum that featured five separate runs of three goals or more. Unfortunately the Griffins' final spurt came too early, as the host Purple Knights got the last laugh by closing the contest with three unanswered tallies on the way to a 13-10 non-conference triumph. Leckonby provided a goal and an assist to the cause, also contributing two ground balls and a caused turnover.

Despite holding its own with an early 2-1 lead off the stick of sophomore midfielder Jacklyn O'Leary (East Meadow, N.Y.), the Griffins fell victim to the Holy Family University buzz saw this afternoon. The host Tigers poured in the contest's next seven goals and never looked back to remain undefeated in CACC play with a 17-8 final. Leckonby scored one goal and assisted on another, giving her a team-leading 34 points. The rookie ranks 8th in the conference in goals (30) and 13th in points.

The Griffins now brace for the stretch run and a three-game home stand to close the regular season. The first contest is a date with Dominican College, scheduled for 7:00 p.m. at Victory Field on Tuesday, April 14.
