Martines, Quill, and Hightower Headline CACC Weekly Report
North Wales, Pa. – (4/14/2016) – With school records abound and first place finishes in the Men’s 800-Meter, 1,500-Meter, 110-Meter Hurdle, and High Jump, the Chestnut Hill College men’s and women’s track teams enjoyed a tremendous performance at the sixth-annual Gwynedd Mercy University Midweek Twilight Meet. For their part in the performance, sophomore Giancarlo Martines (Cherry Hill, N.J.), freshman Bryant Quill (Pottstown, Pa.), and senior Noel Hightower (Easton, Pa.) were recognized on the CACC Weekly Track and Field Report. Martines was honored as the league’s Men’s Track Athlete of the Week while Quill captured the Men’s Field Rookie of the Week award. Hightower was a Weekly Honor Roll selection.
Martines found his stride with record first-place wins in the 800-Meter (1:56.18) and 1,500-Meter (4:02.85) Runs while in the field, Quill and Hightower served as Chestnut Hill College’s top performers. Quill placed first and set a school record in the High Jump with his leap of 1.95 meters. Hightower finished first (15.74) in the 110-Meter Hurdles and third (57.55) in the 400-Meter Hurdles.
This is Quill’s first appearance on the CACC Track and Field Weekly Report while Hightower was also an Honor Roll mention on March 28, after his performance at the St. Joseph’s College Relays. Martines was also the CACC Track Athlete of the Week on that same report (3/28) before earning Honor Roll recognition on April 4 for his effort at Widener University’ Danny Curran Invitational.
The Chestnut Hill College men’s and women’s track and field teams compete next at the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Championship Meet on Sunday, May 1, at Georgian Court University.
