Daywalt Draws Honorable Mention From CACC
 
New Haven, CT – (3/14/2011) – Chestnut Hill College’s, junior second baseman, Jesse Daywalt (Phoenixville, PA) batted .533 (8-for-15) over his final six contests at Florida Coast Spring Training to earn an honorable mention for the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Player of the Week award. He scored five times and stole five bases as well. He is the second Griffin to garner a CACC honorable mention this year, following junior pitcher Rudy Behrens (Wallingford, CT)
 
Daywalt led Chestnut Hill College (3-9) with a .476 (10-for-21) batting average during a 2-6 spring trip, but he really turned it on for the last six contests. He recorded two hits in the doubleheader with the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown on March 8, before causing havoc on the base paths against Ohio Valley College on March 10. He was 1-for-2 against the Fighting Scots while walking twice and stealing two bases in a 7-5 victory. He closed the spring trip with a 4-for-5 performance in the March 11, doubleheader with Post University. He also stole three bases and scored three runs against the Eagles. For the season, Daywalt leads the Griffins in runs (9), batting (.382, 13-for-34), slugging (.412), on-base percentage (.452), and stolen bases (7-of-10).
 
The baseball team returns home to open their new ballpark, Latshaw-McCarthy Field, with a 6:00 p.m. non-conference contest against the University of the Sciences.
