Kohler and Gautier Earn Chestnut Hill College Sweep of CACC Monthly Awards
 
New Haven, Conn. – (10/5/2016) – Testing their meddle in September competition at the Villanova University Invitational and in a dual match versus Philadelphia University, Chestnut Hill College swept the first round of Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) monthly recognition with sophomore Pierre Kohler (Les Sable d’Olonne, France) garnering the league’s Player of the Month award and freshman Antoine Gautier (Eysines, France) warranting the league’s Rookie of the Month award.
 
For the fifth straight season, the Chestnut Hill College men’s tennis season began with play in the Villanova University Invitational. In the first round, Kohler and Ducretot began with a 2-1 victory over the hosting Wildcats. Despite losing as a team, 6-3, the Griffin duo rallied to win the match as individuals with respective 6-4, 6-4, and 6-4, 7-6 (3), triumphs. Gautier was a part a a pair of round-one victory as well, teaming with senior Pedro Oranges de Figueredo (Sao Paulo, Brazil) for a 6-4 doubles triumph over a Rider University duo and winning his individual match against the Broncos, 6-1, 6-3.
 
Kohler and Ducretot swept of St. Joseph’s University in the second round, combining for a 7-5 doubles win before separating for respective individual wins of 6-2, 6-4, and 6-4, 6-4. Gautier and Oranges again won their doubles match, defeating a team from Lafayette University, 6-2.
 
Villanova University got revenge for round one defeat in the third round, where they topped the Scarlet and Gold duo by a 2-1 final. The Griffins captured their point with a 7-6 (5) doubles win. Meanwhile, Gautier and Oranges defeated La Salle University with their individual victories; 6-4, 6-0, and 7-5, 6-2, respectively.
 
Round Four was a sweep for Chestnut Hill College as Kohler and Ducretot topped a team from the University of Delaware, 3-0, while juniors, Lucas Bocaletto (Itatiba, Brazil) and Pedro Festugato Regalin (Caxias do Sul, Brazil) shutting out a duo from Wagner College, 3-0.
 
The 2016-2017 match schedule began on Saturday, September 19, with a non-conference match against local CACC rival, Philadelphia University (0-1). Chestnut Hill College (1-0) captured an early 3-0 lead with a sweep of doubles play before taking four of six singles matches. The Griffins scored the first point of the match rather easily, securing an 8-1 win at number three doubles thanks to the play of freshmen Antoine Gautier (Eysines, France) and Andre (1-0). Regalin and Bocaletto took a little longer at number two doubles, eventually putting the Griffins up 2-0 with their 9-7 win. Soon after, Kohler and Ducretot did their part to shut the Rams out in team play with their 8-4 win at number one doubles (3-0). Gautier also won his individual match, securing the point at number four singles with a 6-2, 6-1, triumph.
 
The Chestnut Hill College men's tennis teams resumes their match schedules on Wednesday, October 5, when they join the women to host a 2:00 p.m. dual match against West Chester University.
