Chestnut Hill College Athletics

 

New Haven, CT – (3/22/2011) – Junior Julius Twyman (Coatesville, PA) was undefeated in a 1-1 week for Chestnut Hill College winning in both singles and doubles matches against Dowling College and the University of the District of Columbia (UDC). For his efforts, the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) recognized Twyman with an honorable mention for the Player of the Week Award.

 

Twyman scored a 6-2, 6-1 win in a number five singles match against freshman Justin Skidmore (Lindenhurst, NY) of Dowling College on Saturday, March 19; after teaming with junior Adrian Avena (Vineland, NJ) for an 8-0 win at number three doubles. Against UDC, on Sunday, March 20, Twyman defeated senior Karlon Bernard (Scarborough, Trinidad and Tobago) 6-0, 6-0 at number five singles and again teamed with Avena for an 8-0 win at number three doubles.

 

For the season, Twyman is 7-3 in singles play, with a 6-2 record at number five singles. He’s played in each doubles flight while totaling a 5-3 record.

 

The men’s tennis team opens their CACC schedule with their next match; a 3:30 p.m. match at Concordia College (NY) on Tuesday, March 22.
