Josso Named CACC Women’s Tennis Player of the Month
New Haven, Conn. - (4/4/2017) – Chestnut Hill College senior Laure-Anne Josso (Vannes, France) was named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Player of the Month on the league’s first monthly report of the non-traditional season. Josso earned a #8 Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) East Region Singles Ranking on March 22 and has remained the bright spot in the Griffins’ 2016-2017 season with a pair of singles and doubles wins in four March matches.
After receiving her ITA East Regional Ranking, Josso celebrated with a pair of wins at the College of New Jersey (TCNJ). Although Chestnut Hill College (0-13, 0-7) suffered a 7-2 loss to the Lions, Josso was victorious at both number one doubles and number one singles. She teamed with senior, Louise Charley (St. Jean de Luz, France) to win the team flight, 8-4, before claiming the point in the top singles flight, 6-0, 6-1.
The Scarlet and Gold’s spring continued two days later, on March 24, with a home match opposite #32 the New York Institute of Technology (NYIT). The Bears won the match by a 9-0 final with Josso facing defeat in both the number one doubles match, 8-6, and the number one singles match, 6-2, 6-2. The very next day, on March 25, the Griffins hosted #35 Indiana University (PA), but suffered the same 9-0 fate. Josso put her best foot forward, again falling alongside Charley in the top doubles flight, 8-4, and in her individual competition at number one singles, 6-1, 3-6, 10-8.
For Chestnut Hill College, March ended, on the 29th, with a contest against National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I member, La Salle University. Josso contributed to two of the Griffins’ points in a 6-3 loss; claiming an 8-1 win with Charley ant number one doubles and winning the number one singles flight, 6-1, 6-4.
The Chestnut Hill College women's tennis team will join the men on Friday, April 7, for a 2:00 p.m. match at Millersville University.
