Peshkin Shares Weekly CACC Women’s Soccer Goalkeeper Award, Taylor Tallies Earn Honor Roll Recognition

New Haven, Pa. - (9/8/2018) – Junior goalkeeper Leah Peshkin (Haddon Heights, N.J.) made a dozen (12) saves and collected two wins – including her first collegiate shut out – to be named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Co-Goalkeeper of the Week. Meanwhile, freshman midfielder Madison Taylor (Bensalem, Pa.) scored both Griffin goals in Peshkin’s shutout to help Chestnut Hill College capture a 2-0 league win over Bloomfield College and earn herself a spot on the CACC Women’s Soccer Weekly Honor Roll.

Chestnut Hill College (2-1, 1-0) put the pressure on Lincoln University (0-3) for a whole 90-minutes in their home opener at Victory Field #1 on Wednesday, September 5, as they outshot the Lions 32-5 en route to a 3-1 victory. Two scores from junior midfielder Sabrina Shinkowitz (Stratford, N.J.) and another from junior forward Nicole Cahill (Glendora, N.J.) were all Peshkin (1-1) needed to earn her first win of the season; she made two saves. Taylor took three shots in the contest.

In Saturday’s CACC season opener, Taylor knocked down two goals to facilitate Chestnut Hill College a 2-0 league win over Bloomfield College. Almost 11-minutes into the second half (55:59), Taylor, Freshman forward Maddie Jimenez (Bensalem, Pa.), and junior forward Nicole Cahill (Glendora, N.J) found the perfect formula to defeat the Bears. Jimenez positioned herself in the far right corner, crossing the ball into the box, where Cahill's deflection located Taylor's feet. Taylor finished the job, knocking it into the back of the net, resulting in the first tally of the day, 1-0. The goal was satisfying, but not enough for the Scarlet and Gold to feel comfortable. So at 70:58, the trio banned together one more time on the opposite side of the field, replicating the same game scoring play, 2-0. Bloomfield College attempted to redeem themselves by scrambling for shots in the last five minutes, but Peshkin met the all off them and secured the 2-0 win. She made 10 saves in all.
