Lemieux Named CACC Golf Co-Rookie of the Month
New Haven, Conn. - (4/4/2019) – With a second place finish (77, +6) at the Swarthmore College and Neumann University Spring Invitational on March 24 and a first place finish (78-75; 153, +11) at the University of the Sciences’ (USciences) Devils Classic on March 29, Chestnut Hill College freshman Jakob Lemieux (Toronto, Canada) earned Co-Rookie of the Month accolades from the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC).
Chestnut Hill College resumed their 2018-2019 schedule on Sunday, March 24, as they placed second in a 10-team field (2nd of 10, 317, +33) on 6,405 yards of a rain-soaked course at the Rock Manor Golf Club. The Scarlet and Gold's tremendous performance at the Swarthmore College and Neumann University Spring Invitational was headlined by a first-second place finish from junior Shawn Mayer (Brick, N.J.) and Lemieux, who respectively topped the leaderboard with theirs rounds of 76 (+5) and 77 (+6).
With a second-day 75 (+4), Lemiuex captured the individual crown at USciences’ Devils Classic on Friday, March 29, helping the Griffins to a second place finish (2nd of 5, 332-313; 645, +77) with his two-day total of 153 (78-75, +11). Even with Lemieux’s score, the Scarlet and Gold trailed CACC rival Dominican College (1st of 5, 313-311; 624, +56) in the final standings by 21 strokes as four Chargers joined Lemieux as the tournament’s top-five finishers.
