North Wales, PA – (4/3/2010) – Sophomore second baseman Jesse Daywalt (Phoenixville, PA) recorded two hits in each contest and stole three bases in the second contest fueling Chestnut Hill College in this afternoon's Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) doubleheader with Concordia College. The Clippers won the opener 6-2, before the Griffins responded with a 6-1 win in the rematch.

Daywalt's day started from his first at-bat as he led off the bottom of the first inning a double down the left field line. He scored the first run of the day two batters later, when junior right fielder Dan Etherton (Princeton, NJ) reached on an incomplete fielder's choice. The Clippers tied the contest in the top of the second inning, after Etherton gunned out their first runner at the plate. Concordia College (16-9, 4-2) added three runs on four hits in the third inning to seize a 4-1 advantage. The Griffins cut it to 4-2 in the bottom of the frame with a run-scoring single from Etherton, but two late insurance tallies sealed the contest for the Clippers, 6-2. Junior pitcher Peter Denyssenko (Larchmont, NY) was the winning pitcher (5-1); he allowed two runs on eight hits and a walk while striking out seven Griffins in a complete-game effort. Senior pitcher Robby Williams (Allentown, PA) took the loss (1-3) giving up five runs on nine hits and three walks. He struck out two in six innings of work.

Chestnut Hill College (8-11, 6-2) took the upper hand again in game two with three runs bottom of the first inning. Daywalt led off with a single before stealing his first base. The succeeding, consecutive singles from sophomore left fielder Alex Latchum (Warrington, PA) and Etherton made it 2-0, before a fielder's choice plated the third Griffin run of the at-bat. The Clippers scored in the second inning on a double from senior right fielder Tommy Paradise (Mahopac, NY), but the Griffins added an insurance tally in the fourth, fifth, and sixth innings to take the game 6-1. Daywalt, Etherton, Latchum, and junior shortstop George Kochu (Pottstown, PA) each totaled two hits. Daywalt caused havoc on the base paths with three stolen bases. The loss (0-3) went to freshman pitcher Eric Skutch (Ithaca, NY), who gave up six runs on ten hits and five walks while striking out six in 5.1 innings. Junior pitcher Chris Lauber (Morton, PA) earned his second win (2-2) with a complete-game effort. He allowed one run on seven hits and three walks while striking out one.

The baseball team travels to Bloomsburg University on Tuesday, April 6, for a 3:00 p.m. contest.
