Men’s Tennis Earns Tenth Win With Defeat of Knights

Philadelphia, PA – (4/6/2010) – Neumann University took one match from the Griffins in this afternoon match, as Chestnut Hill College defeated the Knights 8-1 to collect their tenth win of the season. After sweeping doubles play, the Griffins dropped only number four singles before finishing off the Knights.

 

Freshman Joe Boyle (Doylestown, PA) was the only Griffin to keep the Knights pointless in singles play. Boyle won number one singles 6-0, 6-0 over junior Chris Brown (Eldersburg, MD). Freshman Pat Joson (Old Bridge, NJ) took number two singles 6-2, 6-0, while sophomore Julius Twyman (Coatesville, PA) won a 7-5, 7-5 thriller over senior Brian Crispin (Bridgeton, NJ) at number three singles. Neumann University (4-3) spoiled the Griffins shutout with a 6-2, 6-1 win at number four singles, as freshman John Reading (Phoenixville, PA) and sophomore Adrian Avena (Vineland, NJ) sealed victory for the Griffins with wins at number five (6-3, 6-0) and six (6-2, 6-2) singles, respectively.

 

Chestnut Hill College (10-7) swept doubles play. Boyle and Joson won the top match 8-3. Twyman and junior Carson Richter (Lafayette Hill, PA) scored an 8-2 win at number two doubles while Avena and sophomore David Negron (Philadelphia, PA) won the third doubles match 8-6.

 

The men's tennis team resumes their Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) schedule with a 2:30 p.m. match at the University of the Sciences on Thursday, April 8.
