Philadelphia, PA – (1/19/2011) – Chestnut Hill College battled Philadelphia University early in this evening's Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest, but an aggressive offensive effort landed the Lady Rams a 76-60 win over the Griffins. The Lady Rams put their work in at the free throw line to earn Head Coach Tom Shirley his 600th career win, while junior forward Ebony Washington (Philadelphia, PA) led the Griffins with her first double-double effort of the season.

Philadelphia University (8-6, 4-3) and Chestnut Hill College (3-11, 2-6) traded baskets for much of the first half, but behind the play of junior forward Christine Wooding (Northfield, NJ) and senior forward Kate Brennan (Stratford, NJ) the Lady Rams separated in the final five minutes. The Lady Ram frontcourt spirited the home team on a 12-7 closing run to own a 36-31 halftime advantage. Following the break, senior center Cecelia Herald (Gaithersburg, MD) powered the Griffins within one of the Lady Rams, 42-41, but the post tandem of Wooding and Brennan quieted any hopes of a Griffin rally. In the final 15 minutes, the Lady Rams outscored the Griffins 24-14 with the free throw advantage taking full effect. Wooding was 8-of-10 (80.0%) at the line as she led the Lady Rams with 20 points and eight rebounds. Brennan and junior guard Stephanie Agger (Wildwood Crest, NJ) hit six free throws apiece; Brennan finished with 17 points, six rebounds, two blocks, and three steals, while Agger totaled 12 points and five assists. Senior guard Taylor Magnus (Plymouth Meeting, PA) scored 15 points.

Washington hit 8-of-11 (72.7%) from the field en route to, a career-high, 17 points. The junior transfer added 12 rebounds to her offensive outburst; her third double-digit effort on the glass this season. She was supported by a strong bench effort. Junior forward Ashlen Stayrook (Pickerington, OH) topped the reserves with 12 points. Herald totaled ten points while sophomore guard Kamia Smith (Wyncote, PA) supplied eight points and three assists.
