Orangeburg, NY – (2/12/2011) – Chestnut Hill College went up early at Dominican College with sophomore forward Lindsay Alexander (Huntingdon Valley, PA) and senior guard Jessica Pruiti (Old Bridge, NJ) shooting the Griffins to a ten-point advantage midway through the opening half. Unfortunately the Griffins could not contain the Lady Chargers forever, by halftime the home team led 34-27 and with five players in double figures they claimed a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) victory by a 15-point margin, 70-55.

The perimeter play of Alexander and Pruiti brought Chestnut Hill College (6-17, 4-12) to the initial advantage. They combined to hit 5-of-7 (71.4%) from long range and totaled 20 points at halftime, but it was not enough to keep the Griffins in the lead. Dominican College (8-14, 6-9) echoed the Griffins opening run with an equally dominating 21-4 streak. The Lady Chargers took control in the second half steadily extending a seven-point halftime advantage, 34-27, into a 60-41 lead just past the five-minute mark (4:49). The Griffins gave one last go at it, managing to trim the margin to 15, 70-55, by final buzzer.

Senior guard Shanice Scully (St. Albans, NY) led five Lady Chargers in double figures; she scored 15 points in addition to grabbing eight rebounds. Senior forward Jasmine Schinella (Wappinger Falls, NY) helped out with 12 points and five assists while junior guard Samantha Klunk (York, PA) came off the bench for 13 points and four steals. Junior guard Meghan Murphy (Carmel, NY) scored 14 points and sophomore guard Lindsey Lopez (Elmwood Park, NJ) finished with 12 points.

Alexander led the Griffins with 18 points. She was supported by the hard work of junior forward Ebony Washington (Philadelphia, PA) who hustled for eight points and ten rebounds. Junior guard Kamia Smith (Wyncote, PA) provided six assists at the point.

The women's basketball team resumes their CACC schedule on Tuesday, February 15, with a 6:00 p.m. contest at Wilmington University.
