Philadelphia, PA – (2/17/2011) – Chestnut Hill College joins the rest of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) basketball family in the fight against breast cancer as they host the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Pink Zone at this weekend's home finale.

This weekend's Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) doubleheader will serve as the backdrop for Chestnut Hill College's Pink Zone event. Student-Athletes and game-day staff will dawn Pink Zone T-Shirts and shoe laces as a sign of solidarity of the WBCA cause. T-Shirts and Ribbons will also be available for those who wish to contribute to the cause. The WBCA began the WBCA Pink Zone®, formerly known as "Think Pink", in 2007 as an initiative to raise breast cancer awareness in women's basketball, on campuses, and in communities. Kay Yow, former North Carolina State University head women's basketball coach, served as the catalyst for the initiative after her third reoccurrence of breast cancer in 2006. The WBCA's charity of choice is the Kay Yow/WBCA Cancer Fund®, in partnership with The V Foundation, and it strongly encourages all donations from Pink Zone games to be given to this Fund.

In addition to the humanitarian initiative, Chestnut Hill College Athletics will also be recognizing our basketball senior classes and the 57 members of the 2010 Fall Academic Honor Roll, which salutes those student-athlete who achieved 3.5 or higher GPA for the 2010 Fall Semester. Senior Day ceremonies will be hosted prior to each contest while the Chestnut Hill College Athletics 2010 Fall Academic Honor Roll members will be recognized during halftime of the men's game. The women's game will start the doubleheader against Concordia College (NY) with a 1:00 p.m. tip-off on Saturday, February 19. The men's game will follow at 3:00 p.m.
