KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) has announced the 2025-2026 NABC Honors Court and Team Academic Excellence awards on Thursday, recognizing men's collegiate basketball student-athletes and teams in all NCAA divisions and the NAIA, who excelled in academics during the past season.
The Griffins were honored with the Team Academic Excellence Award and placed three members of their 2025-26 team on this year's Honors Court.
This year's Team Academic Excellence Award marks the second consecutive year that the Chestnut Hill men's basketball team has earned the award. The team earned the Team academic Excellence Award for the first time in program history in 2024-25
The Griffins were one of just five teams from the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference to be named an NABC Team Academic Excellence award winner for 2025-26. In addition, Chestnut Hill College is one of just nine team in the NCAA division II East Region to earn this honor. The three Griffins honorees were among 36 CACC athletes named to the 25-26 NABC Honors Court.
Seniors Alejandro Redondo Cybak and Landon Shivers were named to the Honors court for the second consecutive year, becoming just the third and fourth players in program history to earn the honor twice. Junior IV Pettit joins Cybak and Shivers to round out the Griffin honorees.
The NABC Honors Court highlights the talents and gifts that these men possess on the court and the hard work they exhibit in the classroom. In order to be named to the Honors Court, a student-athlete must meet a high standard of academic criteria with a cumulative g.p.a. of 3.2 or better at the conclusion of the 2025-26 academic year and be a junior or senior academically. A basketball coach from the institution must also be an NABC member.
Shivers and Cybak graduated in May 2026. The two seniors are both members of Chi Alpha Sigma, the national college athlete honor society. The duo are also two-time CACC all-Academic Team honorees and two-time College Sports Communicators Academic All-District® selections
Cybak, a senior post player and a computer science major, has earned Dean's List honors in every semester at Chestnut Hill and was named to the CACC Academic Honor Roll in each of the last six semesters. He has appeared in every game this season for the Griffins.
Shivers, a business administration and management major, joined the Griffins in 2024 after playing two seasons at Caldwell University. He has appeared in 27 games this season. He earned Dean's List honors and earned CACC Academic Honor Roll status in every semester while at Chestnut Hill.
Pettit, a junior guard, missed most of the season following an injury in the team's opening game. He has earned CACC Academic honor roll accolades in each of his first six semesters at Chestnut Hill.
In the history of the Chestnut Hill College Men's Basketball program, 11 players have earned NABC Honors Court accolades a total of 15 times with Cybak and Shivers among four Griffin players to earn the honor twice.
