PASCCA Honors Davidheiser As Sam Cozen Player of the Week

Philadelphia, PA – (2/8/2011) – Senior forward Trenton Davidheiser (Pottstown, PA) represented Chestnut Hill College at today's Philadelphia-Area Small Colleges Coaches' Association luncheon as the Sam Cozen Player of the Week honoree. The award's aim is to recognize those student-athletes who embody the spirit of small college basketball. Davidheiser has served as the Griffins co-captain in his senior season while averaging 5.4 points-per-game (PPG) and 5.5 rebounds-per-game (RPG).
 
As a junior, Davidheiser personified the passion of small college basketball in his return from an early season ankle injury. He returned to the active roster on January 3, 2010, in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest at Post University. Following his return, Davidheiser averaged 3.8 PPG and 3.5 RPG to help Chestnut Hill College (8-12, 5-7) to their second straight CACC Championship Tournament. Now a senior, Davidheiser serves alongside junior center Dan Comas (Philadelphia, PA) as team co-captains. He started the first nine games of the season, but has since relinquished his starting position to a maturing freshman, forward Khadim Ndiaye (Long Beach, NY). Demonstrating his leadership ability Davidheiser accepted and flourished his reserve role ranking second on the team in rebounding (5.5 RPG) and fifth in assists (31), while also adding a three-point shot to his repertoire (29.4%, 15-of-51). Over his career at Chestnut Hill College, Davidheiser has averaged 7.6 PPG and 5.9 RPG. In his three-plus seasons (82 games) he has totaled 626 points, 487 rebounds, 111 assists, 72 steals, and 17 blocks.
 
The Sam Cozen Player of the Week award is named in honor of legendary Drexel University Head Men's Basketball Coach, Sam Cozen. While at Drexel University, Coach Cozen boasted a 213-94 record, while winning 11 Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Championships and making four National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Tournament appearances.
