Women’s Lacrosse Losses to Lions In CACC Opener

Lakewood, NJ – (3/15/2011) – The Chestnut Hill College women's lacrosse team opened their Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) schedule with an afternoon contest at Georgian Court University. The Lions led 15-0 at halftime, before claiming a 20-1 win. Senior midfielder Jillian Sanger (Bowmansville, PA) scored for the lone Griffin tally, spoiling the shutout with 11:44 remaining in the contest.

Senior midfielder Alley Abbate (Oceanport, NJ) led Georgian Court University (1-4, 1-0) with four goals. Senior midfielder Lauren Conaty (Point Pleasant, NJ) and senior attack Ryan McGrath (Manasquan, NJ) added three scores apiece. Sophomore goalkeeper Jennifer Molzon (Howell, NJ) made five saves to collect the win (1-4) for the Lions.

Sanger and sophomore attack Nicole Covella (Vineland, NJ) recorded two shots apiece to headline the Chestnut Hill College (1-2, 0-1) effort. In addition to scoring, Sanger also hustled to three ground balls, and caused one of three Lion turnovers. Freshman goalkeeper Jessica Pennell (Hopkinton, NH) made seven saves in the loss (1-2).

The women's lacrosse team travels next to Molloy College for a 4:00 p.m. contest on Saturday, March 19.
