Philadelphia, PA – (4/19/2011) – A quick start was quickly quieted this afternoon, as Chestnut Hill College fell on the short end of a 15-11 final at Holy Family University. The Griffins netted the contest's first three goals, but the Tigers roared back with a 9-0 run to earn an eventual Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) season split. Sophomore midfielder Lindsay Alexander (Huntingdon Valley, PA) lead the Griffins with five goals, six ground balls, six draws, and three caused turnovers.

Chestnut Hill College (6-9, 4-6) rushed out to a 3-0 lead with a free position goal from sophomore midfielder Erica Eaby (Lancaster, PA) and two scores from Alexander (27:58). Unfortunately, Holy Family University (6-8, 5-5) responded with nine unanswered goals over the next 17 minutes (10:53) to reverse the momentum of the affair, 9-3. Alexander continued to drive the Griffins, she provided two more scores and another from senior midfielder Jillian Sanger (Bowmansville, PA) made it 9-6 before one more Tigers tally left the halftime deficit four, 10-6. Play evened out in the second half, but that was bad news for the Griffins fell by a final score of 15-11. Senior attack Jennifer James (Philadelphia, PA) led the Tigers with seven goals, an assist, three ground balls, two draws, and two caused turnovers. Sophomore goalkeeper Melissa Jenkins (Glenolden, PA) made nine saves while collecting a ground ball and the win (6-8).

For the Griffins, Eaby and sophomore attack Christina Squillante (Kings Park, NY) supported Alexander on offense with two goals apiece. Goalkeepers, junior Jenn Delahanty (Staten Island, NY) and freshman Jessica Pennell (Hopkinton, NH), combined for eight saves.

The women's lacrosse team returns home for their final two CACC contests of the season; the first is against Philadelphia University at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 21.
