Norristown, PA – (4/26/2011) – Chestnut Hill College clawed two big Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) wins away Nyack College this afternoon, defeating the Warriors 12-9 and 4-3. Errors and two triples from junior centerfielder Alex Latchum (Warrington, PA) eventually broke down a Warrior lead in game one while, his classmate; second baseman Jesse Daywalt (Phoenixville, PA) recorded the Griffins walk-off single in game two.

Latchum led-off the Chestnut Hill College (12-18, 8-9) seventh inning, of game two, with a single to right center. A Daywalt bunt moved him to second base and a grounder to shortstop moved him 90 feet from home. Then, a single from senior left fielder Mike Knipe (Sellersville, PA) brought Latchum across and tied the score at 3-3. Junior pitcher Rudy Behrens (Wallingford, CT) appreciated the pick-me-up and showed it by enduring Nyack College (1-33, 1-17) for the final three innings. Meanwhile, the lineup got back at it in their final at-bat with junior right fielder Eric Blood (Perkasie, PA) earning a one-out walk. A hit batsman put two Griffins on before Daywalt's single to left center completed the twin bill sweep, 4-3. Knipe led the offense with two hits and two runs-batted-in (RBI). Behrens earned the win (2-4); he struck out three in three.

Nyack College owned a 7-3 lead heading to the sixth inning of the opener and with two more runs in the top of the frame the Warriors increased their advantage to 9-3. However, the whole thing unraveled in the bottom of the inning. Six hits and three Warrior errors plated six Griffins and wiped the slate clean, 9-9. Junior pitcher Bob Hopkins (Philadelphia, PA) went to work in the seventh and settled the waters while the Griffin bats continued to steal the show with three more runs in their final two at-bats, 12-9. Latchum was 4-for-6 with three RBI and senior third baseman senior third baseman D.J. Santoro Jr. (Jeffersonville, PA) also recorded three hits. Hopkins earned the win (2-3) striking out two over three inning of scoreless relief.
