A persistent Dominican College (7-7, 7-2) weathered a 14-point Chestnut Hill College (4-13, 3-7) halftime advantage to a narrow, two-point margin, 46-44, as the contest entered the final five minutes (5:48) of regulation. Two three-point baskets from junior guard Shannon Lavelle (Floral Park, NY) put the exclamation point on the 18-6 Lady Charger run which put the pressure on the home team in the final minutes. With hustle, Washington grabbed two offensive rebounds on the Griffins next possession, allowing freshman guard freshman guard
Tenisha Townsend-Mobley (Pleasantville, NJ) to earn her way to the free throw line. She converted both chances to place the Griffins up four, 48-44, with just under four minutes remaining (3:54). A block from junior forward
Lindsay Alexander (Huntingdon Valley, PA) denied the Lady Chargers next scoring opportunity and after a layup from senior forward
Ashlen Stayrook (Pickerington, OH) the Griffin lead reached six, 50-44, heading to the final three minutes of play (2:57). Alexander helped Washington keep the Griffins ahead with ten points, eight rebounds, five assists, a block, and a steal. Gorczynski offered two blocks and two steals in addition to her team-leading point total, while Stayrook and freshman guard
Lila Jones (Lansdale, PA) provided quality play off the bench. Stayrook finished with nine points, five rebounds, and two assists. Jones recorded seven points and four rebounds.
