11/24/2012 7:34:00 PM

Box Score Manchester, N.H. – (11/24/2012) – Chestnut Hill College and St. Anselm College took turns controlling first-half action at Stoutenburgh Gym as the hosting Hawks soared to a 16-3 advantage before allowing the Griffins to respond with a 16-6 run of their own. After settling for a 22-19 first-half spread, the Hawks started the second half with a 16-5 separating offensive that eventually precipitated their 21-point victory, 53-32. Providing some post strength off the bench, junior center Aimee Bouie (New Castle, Del.) led the Griffins with nine points and eight rebounds.

Both sides saw struggle in the opening period and both had their turn to control the affair. St. Anselm used their home court advantage at the start, pacing Chestnut Hill College (1-4) by a 16-3 (10:25) margin on the Griffins inability to score and their own determination to chase down every loose ball. Looking to shake things up, the Griffins turned to their reserves for a rally. Bouie and freshman guard Brittany McDonough (Brooklyn, N.Y.) led the charge that brought the Griffins within three, 22-19, at intermission; Bouie working the paint for four points and five rebounds, and McDonough scoring the second of her two three-point baskets (2-of-2, 100.0%) at the half's final horn (0:01). Neither side shot well, as the Griffins were the better of the two opponents with a 34.8% (8-of-23) to 25.8% (8-of-31) shooting edge. Unfortunately, the Hawks honed in for the second half, hitting 14-of-33 (42.4%) from the floor and keeping the Griffins to 13 points for an eventual 53-32 victory.

Sophomore forward Briana Jones (White Plains, N.Y.) was the force behind the Hawks deciding run. She led the Hawks on a 16-5 stretch which widened the halftime deficit to 14, 38-24, just five minutes into the period (14:55). The lead grew to as many as 24, 53-29, in the closing minutes (1:56) with the help of sophomore forward Allie Jones (Wakefield, R.I.), who led the Hawks effort with nine points, nine rebounds, four assists, three blocks, and three steals. Briana Jones finished with ten points, nine rebounds, an assist, and two steals.

Bouie's team-highs in reserve were complimented by McDonough, who finished the afternoon with six points, four rebounds, two assists, and two blocks. Sophomore guards Olivia Gorczynski (Parlin, N.J.) and Tenisha Townsend-Mobley (Pleasantville, N.J.) also contributed to the Griffin effort. Gorczynski scored all eight of her points in the second half, while also totaling, three rebounds, an assist, and a steal. Townsend-Mobley chipped in with two points, seven rebounds, and two steals.
