Box Score Wilmington, DE – (2/15/2012) – Freshman guard Olivia Gorczynski (Parlin, NJ) was nearly unguardable in this evening's Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest at Goldey-Beacom College, as the sharpshooter kept Chestnut Hill College in contention until the final minutes. Gorczynski hit 7-of-9 (77.8%) from three-point territory for a career-high 22 points, and a program single-game record for three-pointer made (7), in a 66-55 loss to the Lightning.

Goczynski's torrid shooting began from the opening tip. She hit her first three-point basket to bring Chestnut Hill College (6-18, 5-12) within one point, 6-5, of Goldey-Beacom College (17-7, 12-5) at 15:32. Then she gave the Griffins their first lead on the next possession, 8-6 (15:05), before giving them another one-point edge, 11-10, with 11:49 remaining in the first half. However, as the first half reached its midway point the Lightning's superior shooting began to make a difference. Led by the play of juniors, Ashley Rosario (Levittown, PA) and Devonne Richardson (Baltimore, MD), the Lightning shot 58.3% (14-of-24) in the opening period overshadowing a 7-of-28 (25.0%) performance from the Griffins. The Griffins came out charged in the second half, behind the elusive shooting of Gorczynski and the hustle of senior center Ebony Washington (Philadelphia, PA) they erased a 32-17 halftime deficit with 10:43 remaining in the closing frame, 39-39. At 9:22, another Gorczynski three-pointer fell to put the Griffins ahead 42-41, unfortunately the lead was short-lived. Ignited by Rosario and fellow junior, forward Irene Hudson (Syracuse, NY), the Lightning responded. Rosario tied the contest on the Lighting's next possession, 42-42 (8:48), and consistently fed Hudson until freshman forward Chelsea Grover (Southampton, NJ) put the finishing touches on a 25-13 slide and an 11-point victory.

Grover led the Lightning with 16 points, two blocks, and a steal. Hudson provided a spark off the bench with 14 points and five rebounds, while the play of Rosario and Richardson fueled the offense. Rosario finished the affair with 13 points, six rebounds, and six assists, while Richardson contributed ten points, nine rebounds, five assists, and four steals.

Gorczynski added three rebounds and a steal to her outstanding outside shooting performance. In support, Washington recorded her second double-double of the season with 12 points and ten rebounds.

The women's basketball team continues CACC play with a 1:00 p.m. contest at Bloomfield College on Saturday, February 18.
