Box Score Philadelphia, PA – (2/7/2012) – Chestnut Hill College completed their Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) season series with cross-city rival, Philadelphia University this evening. Senior center Christine Wooding (Northfield, NJ) put on a second half show, scoring 15 points in the period to finish the affair with 24 points in addition to 14 rebounds, three blocks, and two steals. The Griffins kept the contest close in the first half behind the leadership of junior forward
Lindsay Alexander (Huntingdon Valley, PA), who led the team with a well-rounded performance; 14 points, six rebounds, five assists, a block, and a steal.
Senior guard Stephanie Agger (Wildwood Crest, NJ) and junior forward Taylor Peltzer (Holland, PA) paced Philadelphia University (18-5, 12-2) early. Feeling comfortable on their home floor, the Lady Rams hit their first nine shot to establish a 23-8 lead with 13:08 remaining in the first half. Alexander led the Chestnut Hill College (5-16, 4-10) response which cut the Lady Ram lead to ten, 25-15, and force a home team timeout with 8:17 remaining in the period. A refocused unit of Lady Rams maintained that deficit until the half expired, 42-32, and after the break Wooding went to work. She scored 15 points in the frame to help the Lady Rams extend their lead to as many as 23, 65-42, midway (10:14) through the second half. In support, Agger and Peltzer provided 15 points and 14 points, respectively. Agger additionally recorded four rebounds, four assists, and three steals, while Peltzer offered nine rebounds, two blocks, and two steals.
Alexander was 6-of-14 (42.9%) from the floor, hitting one from beyond the arch and one from the free throw line in her team-leading performance. Senior forward
Ashlen Stayrook (Pickerington, OH) contributed 12 points, six rebounds, a block, and two steals in her second start of the season, while junior guard
Asha Jones (New Castle, DE) came off the bench to supply nine points, three rebounds, four assists, and four steals.
