Box Score 2 Bronxville, NY – (3/18/2012) – Chestnut Hill College opened their Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) this afternoon with a pair of contests at Concordia College (NY). The Clippers held the Griffins to four hits over the course of the twin bill, winning both games in five innings, the first 13-0 and the second 12-0 in one-hit fashion. Junior center fielder
Kim Kashnoski (Philadelphia, PA) broke up the no-hit bid in game two.
Freshman second baseman
Brittany Hoban (Toms River, NJ) led-off the afternoon for Chestnut Hill College (0-4, 0-2) with a double and was stranded at second base. For Concordia College (6-5, 2-0), senior left fielder Maria DeMartino (Staten Island, NY) led-off the bottom of the first inning with a homerun to left center, 1-0. The Griffins looked to even the score with two base runners aboard in the top of the second inning, but it the Clippers escaped the frame without harm only to plate nine runs on seven hits in the bottom of the frame, 10-0. With three more runs in the third inning, 13-0, the Clippers needed to only reach the fifth inning to claim their first victory of the day.
In the second affair, Kashnoski singled to right center field with two out in the third inning, unfortunately, she would be the Griffins lone base runner as freshman pitcher Amanda Ramirez (Lindenhurst, NY) pitched a five-inning masterpiece with only one strikeout. On the mound, juniors
Mandi Rush (Royersford, PA) and
Veronica Wilenta (Brick, NJ) split the work over the doubleheader.
The softball team continues CACC play with a 3:00 p.m. home doubleheader against Philadelphia University on Friday, March 23.
